Description
- The Setup: Lady Athelinda Playford, a famous children’s author, hosts a gathering at her Irish mansion (Lillieoak in Clonakilty, County Cork).
- The Shocking Will: Right before dinner, she summons her lawyer to make a dramatic and unexplained change to her will—cutting off her own children (Harry and Claudia) to leave her entire fortune to her terminally ill secretary, Joseph Scotcher, who has only weeks left to live.
- The Twist & Murder: Lady Playford seems to expect a killer to strike, yet a murder occurs anyway—though the victim is not who anyone expected, and the identity of the dead person makes no sense.
- The Investigation: Detective Hercule Poirot and Inspector Edward Catchpool of Scotland Yard must untangle a web of family resentments, hidden motives, and a seemingly impossible crime before the killer can strike again.
